31/365 Great smile!

f4, ss1/30, ISO6400
James is such a handsome fella!
Today our beautiful Goddaughter is 18. Happy Birthday Cristina!
Photo: There are some interesting highlights on his face that I'm not sure from whence they came. Maybe it is the light shining through strands of his hair...? Also, I didn't see the white in the upper left corner (and I cropped much of it out) - so many things to look for when taking a pic. lol

30/365 Football Banquet

Alex and his buddy Adrian share a laugh at the football banquet. We all had to find some humor at this FOUR HOUR event! I'm sure I'll look at things differently when Alex plays Varisty (maybe :0). Ahhhh...Texas football...

In the never ending photo quest, I gave up on maual mode at this event - too hard to catch the shot I wanted. =[

29/365 What Every Girl Deserves

f1.8, 1/125, ISO6400
Pink cowboy boots! Do you have yours, girls? These happen to be on the feet of my great, great niece, Kaitlyn, daughter of my great niece, Kelsey and her beloved, Kevin. Today we attended the Texas celebration of my great nephew's wedding that occured in Colorado back on December 31st! Congratulations Zack and Noelle!

28/365 Driver

This is my handsome driver, Donald, who drove me safely to and from the surgery room today! I took this with my iPhone right before the anesthetist put me in a light sleep for the first of three ESIs (epidural steroid injections). I am hopeful that these will relieve the pain in my neck, C6-7 specifically. I'll let you know...

27/365 New Lens!

f1.8, ss1/125, ISO3200
Now here is a view of Alex I often see. I guess the same could be said of me with email, blogging and Facebook.

Today I bought a lens that is recommended on Click it Up a Notch (Canon 50mm f1.8 Prime Lens)! For this novice photographer this site is awesome. I learned so much in one day! The biggest discovery was the exposure triangle. Soooo, I've snapped a lot of pics today in manual mode with my new lens, paying attention to that light meter! I invite critiques...I know I have a long way to go!

26/365 Drum Lesson

Snapped this while waiting after school for Alex to finish cello sectionals. I wish I had my zoom lens...BUT!!! this is the first picture I have ever taken on manual mode! Woo hoo!

24/365 Couch Time

Molly, Porter, and Bill enjoy some couch time after a nippy, early morning walk!

23/365 Molly

This is Molly, our beautiful Blue Lacy (aka Sweet Girl, Devil Dog)! The Blue Lacy is the official state dog of Texas (yes, really) and the only breed that originated in this state. They are a mixture of English Shepherd (or perhaps Coyote), Greyhound, and Wolf!

22/365 Narnia

The Bishop's Ball, at the castle in Narnia...

Bill and I went to the Ball as chaperones for the youth of our diocese. To stock the food pantry at the cathedral, everyone brought two cans of meat or beans. The kids had a great time - that's Alex in the middle with the black shirt. The adults had fun too...well, almost everyone (you know who you are).

21/365 Quality Time

I enjoy spending time with James; he is so interesting and our conversations are thought provoking and fun (well, 90% thought provoking and fun, 10% parent/adult child stuff)! Bill and I are sometimes able to take him to lunch on Fridays when James has the day off from work. Today we dined at the Stone Horse, a Japanese Bistro and one of James' favorites.

20/365 Humps

One of the best places to have a microbrew is at Humperdink's in Dallas - the hoppier, the better!

19/365 Old Glory

I love the USA and I am privileged to live in our great country. This is a gift not asked for, but one for which I am forever thankful. Pray for our leaders.

18/365 Light!

Having a new porch light just lifts my spirit! PLUS we can now see the key hole AND the people! Thanks Alex for installing the new lamp!

17/365 Accountability

I am accountable to Susan and she to me, as we walk with Jesus on our spiritual journey. We intend to meet every week to report on our piety (how we give our hearts to Him), our study of the Bible (how we give our minds to Him), and our apostolic action (how we give our hands to Him for service to others). The Fourth Day is now...I'm glad to be back on track!
Today, my niece is 42. Happy Birthday Becca!

16/365 Parish Meeting

After church we had our annual parish meeting, a kind of "state of the church" gathering for all members of our church. Lunch was provided by the Honduran mission team and was excellent. I love this cake, not only because it's just darn cute, but also because the detail on each person's "portrait" is accurate! The baker is so talented and creative; I'm glad she is my friend and a member of our church. Thanks Karol!

15/365 Aunt Sue

I haven't thought of my Great Aunt Sue in years, but tonight I made her recipe for spaghetti sauce. There wasn't much to do at Aunt Sue and Uncle Ray's house, so I would read Nancy Drew books, listen to the older folk laugh and talk, and catch whiffs of the wonderful scents emanating from the kitchen. Then we would all eat Aunt Sue's famous spaghetti & sauce; famous to me, because my mom never cooked spaghetti sauce. Thanks Aunt Sue, for the memories. Why would I ever buy ready-made sauce?

14/365 Sleeping Feet

Even sixteen year old stinking football player feet are still really cute!

13/365 Treasure

Friendship is such a treasure. Bill and I had a wonderful evening at McCormick & Schmick's, with dear friends. We talked choral singing, photography, dogs, travel, retirement, and more. Also, we are not going to wait so long to see each other again. Thanks Robyn and David!

12/365 Be Safe

We are loving James' chimnea that he received for Christmas. Are you enjoying your hearth? Please make sure you have your chimney cleaned every year, before using. My sister, Deborah, called today to tell me that her next door neighbor's house burned last night - a total loss. The fire started in the chimney (it had not been cleaned in three years)! Thankfully, the family and their pets are safe. Thankfully their was no wind so the fire did not spread to neighboring homes. Be warm and be safe!

11/365 Baby, It's Cold Outside!

We're not accustomed to temperatures in the teens! After singing like angels at choir practice, my friends Vicki, Carol, and Anne prepare to face the elements!

10/365 Go Ducks!

They almost had that national title! Bill and I were cheering them on, and we really enjoyed the whole season. Next year, Ducks, next year...

9/365 Snow!

The snow didn't last long and there wasn't much, but James took the opportunity to enjoy the wintry weather. Sittin' in a beach chair, in the front yard, waitin' for a friend to come over so they can have a snowball fight!

Also, today is the birthday of Bill's mom; she is 83! Happy Birthday Ruth!

8/365 Time with Friends

A cozy evening at home for Bill, Samantha, James, and Justin. Card games are a great way to pass the time and have fun! Phase Ten is one of our favorites.

7/365 Date Night

What a fabulous view Bill and I had while dining at I. Gemelli, a new restaurant owned by members of our church. After our wonderful meal we saw "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1." Enjoyed it so much, I now need to re-read the book! Date night is so much fun; we need to make it a weekly event. Sounds like a plan to me! I love you Bill!

In other news, one of our Godsons, the son of our BFFs, turned 24 today! Happy Birthday Sam!

6/365 Epiphany

Epiphany - to "show," "make known," or "reveal." Today we remember the coming of the wise men to see the baby Jesus, who by doing so "reveal" Jesus Christ to the world as Lord and King!

5/365 Back to School

School is back in session and Alex is studiously doing his homework. Oh..oh...is that Facebook on the screen? Hmmm...Allllexxxx!

OK, I'm in for Project 365! I just learned about it today and I think it is so awesome. I spent some time reading other 365 projects and they are inspiring. I'm hoping my photography skills improve also! What a great gift we can give to our families. Sooo...this picture is actually the first of 361 days left in 2011! Wish me luck...
Come join me in the project! Just take a picture(s) every day and post one of them on your blog, with a few notes. Take pictures with your big camera, your little camera, or your phone! There are no rules; just have fun. Oh, and let me know your blog address so I can follow you!
