Today the Bishop of our Diocese visited our church for confirmation and to bless the community garden! In this shot he is using the aspergillium to bless each plot.

147/365 De-clutter 1

We are moving! The new house is not far from where we live now, and we are very excited! The de-cluttering begins! I don't know about you, but the only books I have ever re-read are the Bible and the Harry Potter series so off to Half-Price Books!

145/365 Los Tres Amigos

Los tres amigos (Adrian, Danny, and Alex), have played football together since 6th grade and now play on the varsity team together in high school. Here they are heading to the locker room after the spring game.

Alex played a great game today!

143/365 Seadragon

Isn't she beautiful? She is a Feathered Seadragon from New Guinea and I saw her today for the first time at the World Aquarium and Zoological Garden! There is so much to be in awe of here: the exhibits are fabulous, and the creatures, well, only God could create such exquisiteness! I can hardly wait to take the boys this summer. Thank you, Susan, for a wonderful day!

142/365 The Bomb

I know this is a horrible picture (my iPhone is having focusing issues), but I just love this vendor who was at the Wildflower Festival. Bill and I finished our shift selling adult beverages this evening, and found "The Bomb," on our way out of the festival grounds. He sold basic soda shop fare and played 50's & 60's TV music, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, etc.

141/365 Peter

Here he is, Peter Cottontail, just waiting until we leave. Remember the shot of the pepper on Tuesday? He ate a 1 inch hole in it! Yes we've had trouble with this "pesky wabbit" before. We put out more dog hair and hopefully the fox urine sticks I ordered will come soon!

139/365 Garden Art

Garden Art is starting to appear in many of the plots at the community garden. I love how it is taking shape. This is my contribution to garden art; my thought is that you want something that doesn't cost much, just in case someone might think they need to have it...

138/365 Spring Concert

Alex's Spring Concert was excellent! His orchestra (there are three at his school) was the first in the history of the school to sweep all I's in UIL competition!

137/365 Pepper

I'm so excited! We have a pepper at the community garden, and tomatoes, lettuce, and crook-neck squash! Bill and I are enjoying the garden; we are definitely learning a lot (and, of course, from our mistakes)!

136/365 Let sleeping dogs lie

This was my only shot of the day...Molly and Porter snoozing in the evening. Alex and I were watching TV on the couch. I was glad of the calm evening after the hectic previous 7 days.

133/365 Special concert

My dear friend, Judy, called me about two months ago, and told me she was going to give a concert in Portland, Oregon on May 13th, and asked me if I would consider singing some Gershwin and Cole Porter as part of the program. I agreed. Judy and I performed together often when I was living in Salem; she is an amazing pianist! In this shot, she is playing a Chopin Waltz. The concert was held at "Old Church" in downtown Portland. The church is a gorgeous example of the "carpentry Gothic" style and was one of the first churches in Portland. Old Church is now used exclusively for the performing arts and weddings and receptions. The concert was wonderful; it was great to sing with Judy again!

Photo: I was surprised to see the reflection of the lights. How do I avoid this in the future? Is it a bad thing? I was not using a flash.

132/365 Adorable

This adorable little one was sitting across from me this morning while I was having coffee at a local coffee shop. I couldn't resist capturing her beautiful eyes.

128/365 A separate celebration

James is such a gentleman! He made sure that my birthday and Mother's Day were both celebrated, each as separate events. Today, he made dinner for me, gave me a lovely card, and a plaque with a beautiful poem. The chef prepared grilled salmon with an orange/lemon marinade, steamed asparagus, and rice pilaf. For desert he made a carrot cake completely from scratch! This was, without a doubt, the best meal I have ever eaten. Thank you, James! xoxo

127/365 Crawfish boil

This is a birthday to remember! There is nothing like having 150+ people sing "happy birthday" to you! Besides today being my actual birthday, it was also the day of the 1st Annual Crawfish Boil at our church. The event was a great success!

I'm thinking I have a few contenders for next year's poster:

Here's Padre Bill, who ate crawdads to his heart's content!

Here's Sara Rae, who was partial to the live ones, and even named a few!

And here's Chuck, who grew up eatin' these beauties! Here he's showing us how it's done!

126/365 Early Present

Bill gave me an iPad for my birthday (a day early)! We waited in line this morning to purchase one of the 20 or so available today. Hmmm... Do they get a new shipment every day? Anyway, I'm so excited and have spent much of the day learning how to use it! I am able to transfer photos from my camera to the iPad which is great for times when I am traveling. Woo hoo!

121/365 Time to worship

We concluded our mission trip with the church service at St. Mark's, and a wonderful lunch prepared by some of the church members! The priest remarked that, "usually the Sunday after Easter is one that is very low in attendance, but not this year at St. Mark's; we more than doubled our normal attendance!"
